There has been an increase in anti social behaviour in our communities and we are very concerned about the safety of both our young people and others. Recent events include the vandalism of the Catherine’s Close toilets, which are now closed whilst repairs are taking place, the bus shelter on Churchfield Drive, the defibrillator  and the bus shelter on Station Road.  In addition there are numerous incidents of vandalism that deeply affects the Football Club and the users and neighbours of the fields and play areas.

Both Councils are in regular contact with the Police who have increased their patrols of the Fairfield,  the Donald PIther Memorial  field and the town.

However, they can only react to crimes that they know about so we urge you to contact the Police EVERY time you witness crimes anywhere in our town. You can do this by calling 101 or if it’s an emergency 999   If you have access to the internet:

https://www.avonandsomerset.police.uk/report/anti-social-behaviour/

You can also report crimes anonymously on:

https://crimestoppers-uk.org/give-information/forms/give-information-anonymously

We intend to keep a log of incidents and will request the Police to initiate a Community Trigger procedure but we can only do this if incidents are reported at least five times. We therefore, repeat our request to report incidents.

In addition we will make representation to the Police & Crime Commissioner, Sue Mountstevens regarding the resourcing of the Police in rural areas as we know we are not alone in our concerns.
