VACANCY ON CASTLE CARY TOWN COUNCIL
Notice is hereby given in accordance with Section 87 of the Local Government Act 1972 that due to a recent resignation there is one vacancy on Castle Cary Town Council to be filled.
Unless a request for an election to be held is submitted in writing to the Proper Officer of South Somerset District Council at the Council Offices, Brympton Way, Yeovil, Somerset, BA20 2HT before 2nd June 2020 by ten electors for the electoral parish of Castle Cary, the Town Council will proceed to fill this vacancy by co-option.
A poll cannot currently take place until 6 May 2021 as a result of the Local Government and Police and Crime Commissioner (Coronavirus) (Postponement of Elections and Referendums) (England and Wales) Regulations 2020 and the Coronavirus Act 2020.

Unless at least 10 electors apply in writing to the Proper Officer of South Somerset District Council to request a By-election (as detailed in the public notice above) the Town Council will proceed to fill these vacancies by co-option. The next meeting of the Town Council at which this can be dealt with is due to be held on Monday 15th June 2020.
If any local elector wishes to become a councillor, please notify the Clerk to the Town Council in writing, giving full details of your background and interests. Anyone who is interested in serving the community in this way is welcome to contact the Clerk to discuss this in more detail.
