A debate has been running between Somerset County Council and the District Councils of Somerset about their future. You may have read about it in the County Council newsletter.

Now, Somerset County Council is asking for your views; their latest communication states:

‘In previous communications we have committed to carrying out a consultation this Autumn to gather public opinion around the One Somerset model and the future opportunities this will  bring for Somerset. To help gather feedback we are now embarking on a detailed consultation exercise and an online survey will shortly be available on the One Somerset website where you’ll be able to provide us with your thoughts.  Please take part and submit your feedback on this form when it becomes available.

In addition, Somerset County Council has commissioned an independent organisation called Blue marble Research to conduct some focus groups/depth interviews so you may be contacted directly by them and invited to take part in those sessions.

In the meantime and if you have any questions around the One Somerset business case then please take a look at the website which is updated regularly with all the latest information.’

However, the District Councils of Somerset disagree with the One Somerset proposal and South Somerset District Council has a page on its website accordingly:http://www.strongersomerset.co.uk/

This was also discussed by Castle Cary Town Council in July: https://www.castle-cary.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/CCTC-Approved-Minutes-for-Town-Council-Meeting-2020-07-20.pdf (Chair’s report c)
