The Council seeks to appoint a Parish Clerk and Responsible Financial Officer
(RFO). The appointment is for an average of 17.5 hours per month and the salary
will be as per the national recommended salary scale commensurate with part time
Clerks, LC1, Scale Point 20, (currently £19819 p.a. pro rata.) subject to experience
and qualifications. There is also a small annual home allowance for heat, light and
phone use. A laptop and printer are provided.

The Parish Clerk is the point of liaison for Councillors, residents of the village and
all external organisations. The Clerk is responsible for organising all meetings of
the Council, preparing the agenda (with liaison with the Chairman) and taking and
publishing minutes for meetings. You will deal with all correspondence and
administration, and as Responsible Financial Officer, you will be managing the
financial accounts of the Parish Council and the associated statutory obligations.
You will also update the Parish Council page on the village website.

Excellent literacy, numeracy, book-keeping, communication and IT skills required.
The ideal candidate will be efficient but also a responsive person, able to work well
with our friendly team of local Councillors and the community. Attendance at the
evening meetings of the Council is a requirement of the position. On average there
are 8-10 meetings per year, dates being set by agreement/availability of the Clerk
and Councillors. Preference will be given to candidates who have a relevant local
government qualification such as CiLCA, but training, including via Somerset
Association of Local Councils (SALC) courses will be provided, including expenses
(at the HMRC approved rate) for travel to training locations.
