A Public Meeting
Thursday 14th March, 7.30pm,
The Shambles, Market House, Castle Cary, BA7 7AH

A Greener Cary?
We face a crisis. Plastic pollution, climate change, poor air quality and a shortage of landfill sites are just part of the problem. Some people just don’t think about it. Others think they can’t do anything. But lots of people are concerned and want to do something. Many of them in this town.
On 14th March in the Shambles at the Market House in Castle Cary there will be a meeting for organisations, businesses and individuals in the town who want to do something to make Castle Cary greener. We can’t solve the global problem, but we can do things which will improve the bit of the world we live in, and we can do things locally which have an impact for good elsewhere.
Just a few possibilities: we can reduce the amount of carbon we emit by improving our transport system so we rely less on vans, cars and trucks; shops can stock goods which have been transported shorter distances; we can eat food which has less impact on the environment; we can develop our local entertainment so there is less need to travel away. You no doubt have lots of other ideas.
As do other people in Castle Cary, Ansford and the villages round about, many of whom are already trying to do something. At the meeting on 14th March we will identify what we are already doing to make the Castle Cary area greener, gather ideas for another Green Fair on 14th September, and think of what we can do long term. Finally we’ll decide how we can take this forward.
If you’re concerned to make Cary greener, do come to the meeting. And encourage other people through your organisation or business to come too. There is a lot we can do, and we can do more together than as individuals.
