Queen Victoria Jubilee Drinking Fountain

A drinking fountain was erected by the town in 1897 to celebrate Queen Victoria’s Diamond Jubilee. It was taken down some 20 years later to make way for the War Memorial that now stands proudly in the Horse Pond. When it was removed in C.1920, it was apparently relocated to a private garden in the town. We are trying to track down where it might be. This is in support of a project to install a drinking fountain next to the Horse Pond to celebrate the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee in 2022.
