Update on road closures, deliveries and buses etc.
We have listened to your feedback and responded with options and opportunities. We hope you all have a glorious day with us on 4 May
The roads around the town centre will be closed from 0700 to approx 1900 (we will open them as soon as as it is safe to do so). We have tweaked the road closure to give residents restricted access (i.e under supervision) to and from Castle Rise (we will do a letter drop to these addresses exlaining how this will work).
Access to businesses:
As this is a public event with pedestrians milling in the streets and stalls set up from Ansford Road to Horsepond and in Market Place and Bailey Hill it is important we keep everyone safe as we can. We have responded to business requests and set aside 5 drop off/pick up bays in Woodcock Street and 2 delivery laoding bays in Woodcock Street. These will be accessed via the stewards at the road closure point.
For those living within and near the road closure area we have worked with the Caryford Hall to allow unrestricted access and parking overnight on Friday and all day on Saturday – meaning your vehicle can be moved to Caryford Hall before the closure is put in on Saturday morning.
The bus companies have been informed of the road closures and it is our understanding that buses to Yeovil, Street and Wincanton that usually stop at the Horsepond are due to have a temporary stop at Horsepond Inn, as Lower Woodcock Street will be temporarily open to two way traffic. Buses will stop outside the Horsepond Inn as usual.
If you will be affected by the closure and haven’t made contact with us please email us at [email protected] asap so we can react. Thank you Bev & Sarah
