We have now got Coronavirus in Somerset and it is essential that people over 70 and those with health conditions stay at home and, unless they have other support, make use of the shopping and medicine collection service run by CaryCares (see below). This is not only to keep everyone safe but also to protect the NHS.

About CaryCares
(NB. All Cary Cares volunteers will have identification)
Cary Cares has extended the services it offers to include enabling people who use a card or key power meter to get it topped up in an emergency. This applies to those who cannot get out, cannot go to the Post Office on a Thursday morning, or have run out of money. It also now has extended the hours the phone is staffed.
CaryCares can:
· – Provide someone to collect medicines or shopping for you
· – Provide a food box if your circumstances have changed and you cannot currently buy food.
· – Help you get your electricity or gas card/key topped up in an emergency
· – Arrange for someone to give you a call if you’re feeling cut off.
For CaryCares: phone 01963 351362 9.30 a.m. – 4 p.m.
Cary Cares is organised by Churches Together in Castle Cary and Ansford and endorsed by the Town Council.
The Food Boxes are being funded by the Cary Town Charity (see previous email for details) and we are grateful for the large number of generous donations that have been made. The George hotel is using its supply chain to order long life food for the boxes and Morrisons has kindly donated some foodstuffs as well.
The details of this service are on the Town Website (https://www.castle-cary.co.uk/coronavirus-covid-19-advice-…/) and on Facebook CaryCares (https://www.facebook.com/carycarescorona/)

We have been posting regular updates on how self-employed people can apply for grants and other support available for businesses, individuals and associations on https://www.castle-cary.co.uk/coronavirus-covid-19-advice-and-updates/
