Accommodation – B&B, Inns & Hotels
Ellesmere is a Home From Home B&B in the heart of Castle Cary. It is somewhere to feel totally relaxed as if you are in your own house. We do sumptuous breakfasts including home-made granola and muesli. We also serve a full array of other cereals, delicious yoghurt, home-made jams and local bread. We serve kitchen suppers on request. Good, home-cooked, locally sourced food is our priority. The house is a beautifully elegant, three-floored, double-fronted Victorian property with a lovely interior.
A lovely and popular Home From Home style B&B
This award-winning, 17th century thatched pub and restaurant is set in the heart of this idyllic Somerset village, open every day of the year and oozing charm with traditional flagstone floors, exposed beams, open fires, cosy nooks and crannies and pretty garden. We offer everything from great local ales, inspiring à la carte menu, hearty Sunday lunch and outdoor wood-fired pizzas to individually planned weddings for up to 120 people.
We are conveniently situated in a rural and peaceful location, just a few minutes north of Podimore roundabout on the A303 in Somerset, off the A37. Accessible down a winding country lane, you will stumble across us, past the village Church, open fields and a handful of stone cottages.
We are very much a locals’ pub, welcoming familiar faces into our rural watering hole to sit, chat, eat and drink in these beautiful surroundings. Equally we love to see new faces who might be visiting this beautiful county – looking for their own ‘escape to the country’. The Red Lion is an ideal stopover point for lunch or an overnight stay on the way to Devon and Cornwall or back to London and the home counties.
