The Balsam Centre
The Balsam Centre is a community treasure that many people know little about. It is owned and managed by a charity (Wincanton Community Venture) set up by local people in 1999 with the aim of supporting the health and wellbeing of local people. Although based in Wincanton, the Centre was set up to include all the surrounding communities, including Castle Cary, Bruton and the villages around them. Overall, it provides a wide range of services and activities that are easy to access, enjoyable and that have lasting benefits. The Centre itself is a friendly, vibrant space where many people come every day for meetings, activities and creative or quiet time. For full details of all their activities, including gardening, art, exercise and the Loose Ends Cafe, or if you might be interested in volunteering to help, see their website, www.balsamcentre.org.uk , call 01963 31842, or drop in and see us.
