Council Services

'Your Neighbourhood'

South Somerset District Council now has a facility on its webpage (http://www.southsomerset.gov.uk/) called 'Your Neighbourhood' where you can type in your postcode and get information about where you live; particularly useful as a way of checking the days for refuse collection...

Waste Collection and Recycling

This is organised on behalf of SSDC by Somerset Waste Partnership, whose website (http://www.somersetwaste.gov.uk/pages/index02.asp) gives full details about collection dates, recycling and the recycling centre at Dimmer.

The normal day for refuse collection (fortnightly) and recycling collection (weekly) is Friday, so it's generally best to put things out on Thursday evening. In weeks with a bank holiday, the day is usually moved to Saturday. If in doubt, check their website.

Dates for Christmas and New Year: the collection on Friday 28th December will take place on Sunday 30th December; the collection on Friday 4th January will take place on Saturday 5th January.

The opening hours for the Recycling Centre at Dimmer are as follows: Monday 8-7; Tuesdays and Wednesdays 8-4; Saturdays 8-4; Sundays 8-1.
