Castle Cary Town Crier

Sunday, October 2, 2016|

The CASTLE CARY TOWN CRIER  is proving extremely popular

This is an email information service set up by the Town Council to inform residents of important issues as soon as they arise.

The purpose of this service is to ensure that residents can personally receive information from the Town Council such as:

  • Reminders of upcoming events in the town.
  • Issues relating to the town for which consultation is needed
  • To ask for volunteer help either on a regular basis or for one-off events.

It will not be used for any other purpose and members will only be contacted if there is news, or views/help is needed.

The list of recipients will not be made available to any other individual or organisation.  BCC (blind carbon copies) will be used at all times for group mailings.

Residents of Castle Cary, Ansford and the surrounding area are invited to contact carycrier@outlook.com  and ask to be put on the list.

CARE4CARY

Monday, April 27, 2015|

Do you care about Castle Cary and its special character? Have you ever wanted to help your local community but didn’t know how?

Care4Cary, established in 2009, is a local organisation which supports proposed developments that benefit the Castle Cary area but campaigns against developments that will disproportionately damage the special character of the locality.

Care4Cary’s previous successes:
We successfully campaigned against the ill-considered Bronzeoak biomass power station proposal.

We supported Castle Cary Town Council in ensuring free car parking continues in the town, thereby supporting a very special high street.

We actively supported our local Town Council’s opposition to and Area East Planning Committee’s refusal of an application to build a concrete batching plant at Dimmer. And the Planning Inspector recognised the strength of our arguments and dismissed the appeal.

In the light of recent planning applications for huge proposed housing developments, Care4Cary now needs new members to help with all sorts of things from fund-raising (to pay for legal advice), local expertise, writing letters to local planners and MPs and many other things too.  Can you help?  To join us just email your contact email address to

care4cary@live.uk or call 07803 855 208 and give us your home address and we will add you to our growing mailing list.

We look forward to hearing from you!
